"Soul Sleep for 1,000's of Years" I have always believed in God/Jesus. I have been reading the Bible (the new testament) for the last 5 months. I have been trying to find out if the soul will be in the grave for thousands of years or if the soul has already gone on to better things. I know you don't know, but have you read anything in the Bible that tells you if the soul will sleep for thousands of years. I never thought the soul died. Any answers you have would be appreciated. |

Quick Answer first. There is no such thing as 'Soul Sleep'. The Bible says that when we as believers die we are immediately with Jesus. We receive a new Body at the time of the resurrection of the Church. Realize the WE are not our body. Or body is just our Earth Suit. Consider the following and REMEMBER we are not our body. It's just where we dwell while here on earth. By comparing these scriptures it lets us know that when we die we are present with the Lord and brought with him for the resurrection of our new bodies together. 2nd Cor. 5:6-8 6 "Therefore we are always confident, knowing that, whilst we are at home in the body, we are absent from the Lord:" 7 ("For we walk by faith, not by sight:") Read verse 8. carefully. 8 "We are confident, I say, and willing rather to be absent from the body, and to be present with the Lord." 1Thes.4;13-18 13 "But I would not have you to be ignorant, brethren, concerning them which are asleep, that ye sorrow not, even as others which have no hope." 14 "For if we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so them also which sleep in Jesus will God bring with him." 15 "For this we say unto you by the word of the Lord, that we which are alive and remain unto the coming of the Lord shall not prevent (precede) them which are asleep." 16 "For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first:" 17 "Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord." 18 "Wherefore comfort one another with these words."
