Question:

Okay I have something that has really been bothering me!
I recently lost a dear friend in a fatal car accident and I was turning away from God and my friends to get me through this when I found your site.
Now for something that is disturbing me. God is all knowing! Therefore, He know when, where and how we will die. Okay like my friend recently died in a car accident. If she would have been 5 seconds quicker or slower she would not have she been hit head on by a car and killed. If she had not been on that street on that day she would not have died that day?
Since God could see that she was going that exact speed on that exact day and time, why could He have not intervened?

Answer:

Let me try to give you an analogy to consider.
Think of a movie you have gone to in the past. For example, let's take the movie "Pretty Woman" with Julia Roberts and Richard Gere. We know that Richard Gere at the end of the movie is going to go to Julia Roberts in a limousine with a rose in his hand and climb up the latter to get her. (If you have seen the movie you know what I mean. If not... that is what happens)
Anyway.... NOW! Let say you and I go see that movie... and I have not seen it... You KNOW what is going to happen... right? I don't, because I have not seen the movie. BUT..... Even thought you KNOW what is going to happen.... "YOU DID NOT MAKE IT HAPPEN!" also, YOU COULD NOT HAVE STOPPED IT FROM HAPPENING".That is called foreknowledge. You knew ahead of time because you already saw what would happen even though you did not make or cause it to happen. That is the way God is.... One of His attributes is being 'Omnipresent'.
God in His foreknowledge KNOWS but He does not cause. That would be predestination, eliminating our FREE WILL.
God is a loving God and doesn't want bad things to happen. He could intervene, but again that would diminish our free will. SATAN is the idiot who does all he can to destroy and kill and try to get us to blame God for things.
But the one fantastic thing we have is that if we know Jesus as the one who died for us and have accepted that payment He made for our sins, then no matter what Satan does, we will be with God and our loved ones who have gone on before us.
